Traditional Council donates building materials to Sunyani Central Prisons

The Sunyani Traditional Council has presented some building materials to support the on-going construction of a befitting church building at the region’s Central Female Prisons.

They comprise 20 bags of cement, 30 buckets of paint, and eight rollers for painting.

Mr Raphael Cubagee, the Sanitation Officer at the traditional council who made the presentation, said they had plans to support the central prison’s livestock and poultry production as well as farming projects.

The Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Thompson Otsokpo, the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East Regional Commander of the Ghana Prisons Service, thanked the donors for their kindness, describing the gesture as timely.

He said construction of the prison church remained central to the service’s commitment towards reformation of the inmates, saying the facility required more of such support under the implementation of its ‘Think Prisons 360 Degrees’ initiative.

DDP Otsokpo gave the assurance that the items would be used for the intended purpose and hoped the collaboration between the traditional council and the service would be strengthened towards the reformation of the prison inmates.

He appealed to other stakeholders, institutions, and benevolent individuals and organisations for more support to improve the condition of the prison facilities and the welfare of the inmates at the various facilities in the region.
