Two young men have been confirmed dead and three others critically injured, following a violent clash between the communities of Broadekwano and Asisiriwa in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.

The confrontation, which began on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, and continued into Wednesday, has left residents in fear of further violence.

According to the Assembly Member for the Asisiriwa Electoral Area, Prince Boateng, the dispute stemmed from a relationship involving a young woman from Broadekwano and a man from Asisiriwa.

He said the disagreement quickly escalated into a broader communal conflict, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and destruction of property.

Among the property destroyed was a commercial sprinter bus belonging to a resident of Asisiriwa. The vehicle was set ablaze after the driver transported passengers to Broadekwano.

Although police officers were deployed to the affected communities on Wednesday afternoon to restore calm, their subsequent withdrawal has left many locals feeling vulnerable.

“I am pleading with the Interior Minister and the DCE to deploy men to come and protect us,” Mr Boateng said, describing the situation as tense and residents anxious about possible retaliatory attacks.
