Two officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS ) have been injured following a secondary explosion at a tanker fire at Potsin Junction in the Central Region.

The blast occurred on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, while personnel were working to control an initial fire on the Kasoa-Winneba Road.

Witnesses say the explosion threw one officer off the fire tender.

The injured officers have been rushed to the hospital.

The GNFS dispatched additional reinforcements from neighbouring stations to bolster the containment efforts and ensure the tanker is completely cooled to prevent a third eruption.

Motorists are, therefore, advised to avoid the Potsin Junction route.
