A late-night robbery attempt at the residence of a Court of Appeal judge in Kumasi was thwarted on Monday, resulting in gunshot wounds to two suspected intruders, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed.
A statement released by the police reported that the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. when two young men allegedly scaled the fence wall of the judge’s home.
The suspects were reportedly armed with cutlasses and a pair of scissors.

The suspects have been identified as Patrick Alor, 23, and Akwasi Gyamfi, 21. According to preliminary investigations, the pair entered the compound and began attempting to forcibly open the judge’s private vehicle.
Their actions were detected by a police bodyguard stationed at the residence before they could proceed further. When confronted, the suspects allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to disarm the officer.

The police stated that the officer acted in self-defence and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
“In the course of the confrontation, and acting in self-defence, the officer discharged his firearm,” the release stated.
The two suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their left and right legs, respectively.

Following the incident, the injured men were subdued and taken into custody.
They were immediately transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, where they are currently receiving treatment under police guard as investigations continue.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commended the alertness and professionalism of the officer, whose swift intervention prevented what could have been a serious security breach at the home of a senior judicial officer.

The police service has reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting all citizens, including members of the judiciary.
They have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
