Two VIP buses crash at Dompoase; over 34 people feared dead

More than 34 people are feared dead in a motor accident that occurred at Dompoase near Komenda in the Central Region of Ghana.

The gory accident, occurred around midnight on Monday, January 13 involved two VIP buses, one said to be travelling from Takoradi to Accra – with registration number GR 5704-18 – and the other – with registration number GN 3780-10 – in the opposite direction.

According to eyewitnesses, the Takoradi-bound bus tried to overtake other cars on the road but collided with the oncoming bus on the opposite lane.

Both drivers died instantly with one of them having his head completely chopped off. The rest of his body was trapped in the mangled vehicle.

It took great effort from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from Cape Coast to rescue some of the injured while the dead bodies were conveyed in vehicles to the hospital.
