A digital contest amongst eight universities in Ghana has been launched in Accra by the Coordinator of the National Council for Tertiary Education.
Uni Geek, a technological and digital-based academic competition in Ghana, is expected to run for about eight weeks.
Speaking at the launch, Doris Ahiati, Chief Executive of Cresendo Consult, organisers of the challenege said:
“The aim of the contest is to channel the mental energies and attention of the youth especially those at the tertiary level. Being the maiden edition, this is the first of many more to come, affording more universities the opportunities to participate subsequently.”
Contestants for the maiden edition of the challenge have been drawn from nine universities, namely;
Ashesi University, Ghana Technical University College, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Central University College, University of Cape-Coast, University of Developmental Studies, University of Professional Studies and the All Nations University.
Winners of the challenge will win the grand prize of GH₵50,000 for their university for the undertaking of a project relating to information technology in the school.
Contestants representing the winning university will also receive GH₵5000, tech gadgets amongst others.
