Vivo Energy Ghana, the exclusive distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has delivered a transformative donation to the Breman Fosuansa D/A Basic School: a set of durable classroom desks made entirely from recycled plastic waste.
The intervention comes in direct response to a recent media report that revealed pupils were forced to use concrete blocks and wooden slabs as makeshift furniture.

The report, aired by Starr FM, highlighted the severe resource constraints in the rural community, showing children hunched over concrete during lessons, a situation that sparked widespread concern.
In reaction, Vivo Energy Ghana, through its sustainability pillar of “Partnerships,” collaborated with United Way Ghana to verify the needs and coordinate a solution.

The new desks, produced by Mckingtorch Africa, provide not only ergonomic support but also represent a sustainable innovation, repurposing plastic waste into functional educational tools.
The donation directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 for Quality Education, aiming to restore dignity and improve the learning environment for the students.

Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum, emphasized the deeper meaning behind the gesture.
“For pupils who once sat on cement blocks, these desks tell each child, ‘You matter, your future matters,’” she stated.
“We believe every child deserves a safe, dignified, and inspiring space to learn.”
This initiative reflects Vivo Energy Ghana’s broader commitment to community development and sustainable practices, aligning with its ambition to be Africa’s leading and most respected energy business, one that creates lasting positive impact where it operates.
