Wakaso makes early return from injury

Ghana and Deportivo Alaves have been handed positive news on injured Wakaso. On Tuesday November 5, the Vitoria-Gasteiz based club announced that the dynamic midfielder will resume training on Wednesday, just a day after undergoing a success minor procedure on his right hand.

The Ghanaian fractured the metacarpus of his right hand during Sunday’s La Liga clash with Osasuna and was originally feared to be facing a long spell out on the sidelines.

His unanticipated early return to the squad is great news for Alaves as the prepare for their league clash with mid-table Real Valladolid.

Wakaso has been an integral part of Alaves’ midfield this season, starting 11 of their 12 league matches.

Breaking the news to the fans, El Glorioso announced on their official website, “Wakaso Mubarak has had an procedure on a fracture in the metacarpus of his right hand that he suffered in the last match against CD Osasuna.”

“The procedure went on as scheduled and from tomorrow [Wednesday], he will return to training with the rest of the team.”

Wakaso is also a key member of Akwasi Appiah’s Blackstars. His prompt return from injury is good news for Ghana who called up the 29-year-old for a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe on November 14 and 18, respectively.
