The newly rebranded Legon Cities FC played a match against Asante Kotoko on Friday, and dancehall king Shatta Wale was reported to have been paid a whopping GH₵400,000 to perform at the game.
Legon Cities FC billed Shatta Wale to perform as part of efforts to boost the interest of football enthusiasts to patronize local games.
A concerned fan took to Facebook to advise the club to limit their expenses and focus more on delivering results to their supporters.
This drew the attention of the media officer of the team, Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang, to address the issue of how much Shatta Wale was actually paid to perform.
Commenting he said;
“I don’t know where u got your figures from but it is nowhere near whats making rounds out there….totally exaggerated”
