Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has called on the Dusseldorf partners under the city sister relationship with Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis (STMA), to help in areas that would improve upon the people’s livelihoods.
He said urged them to bring on board all the good things, focusing on areas to improve welfare and advance on sustainability”.
Mr Nelson said this when he welcomed the partners from Düsseldorf to the Residency as part of the activities marking their reciprocal visit to Ghana.
He described the visit as refreshing, alluding to the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Ghana and Germany and prayed that the sister city relationship would advance the course of the Metropolitan area and the country.
Mr Fredrick Faustinus Faidoo, the Chief Executive Officer of the STMA, reported that the city had signed a memorandum of understanding with AgriBIOME GmbH in collaboration with the Social Entrepreneurship Hub to improve animal and crop production.
The project was expected to train 4000 young Ghanaians directly and impact more than 20,000 people indirectly.
He said, discussion in Germany also concluded on a multi-million Euro Waste to Energy project to introduce advanced and comprehensive waste management technologies.
Other projects for consideration were the city mobility Project, the sustainable urban planning project, and language Exchange Project.

Mr Faidoo said the exchange visit underscored the shared vision of both cities to build resilient, inclusive and sustainable urban communities through active collaboration between local government, civil society organisations and citizens.
Mr Lucas Milbert, of the State of Dusseldorf said the visit would also be used to assess the exact needs of the city for possible solutions.
