Zijin Golden Ridge Limited (ZGRL), a mining company, has reaffirmed its commitment to the Birim North District to collaborate in the areas of local employment, worker safety, and peaceful coexistence.
The mining company believes that dialogue, open communication, and continuous engagement provide the foundation for a strong and mutually beneficial long-term partnership.
At a signing ceremony of a Framework Agreement between the Company and the Birim North District Assembly, Mr Harry He, Vice President for Human Resources at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, said the agreement reflected the company’s approach to responsible mining and partnership with host communities.
The Framework Agreement signed at the event clarified issues relating to pre-employment health requirements for specific mining roles.
He said: “This Framework Agreement brings clarity, transparency, and balance. It allows us to meet our legal and safety obligations while remaining responsive to the concerns of our host communities. Above all, it reinforces our belief that sustainable operations are built on trust, dialogue, and shared responsibility.”
The ceremony brought together traditional authorities, youth leaders from affected communities, and the District Security Council.
Mr Alexander Ofori, a resident who spoke on behalf of the youth groups in the affected communities, described the agreement as a reflection of the peaceful manner in which the company intended to operate.
He said: “The signing of this agreement reflects the peaceful nature in which Zijin wants to operate in this area. We are inspired by the company’s vision for the communities, and we are ready to collaborate with them to achieve it. The youth need jobs and everyone is waiting for the opportunities that the development will bring.”
On his part, Mr Hakeem Abdul Antwi, Birim North District Chief Executive (DCE), said the signing marked the beginning of a new phase of development for the district.
He said: “I am impressed today. It is all about the youth, the company and Nananom. We have been able to make an impact by signing this agreement. It is our prayer that we will all work hand in hand.
“We must believe in dialogue, and I’ll make sure I champion this cause for peace to prevail in the area.”
The Framework Agreement forms part of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited’s broader development agenda, which focuses on responsible mining, local capacity building, and long-term socio-economic development in its areas of operation.
Through sustained engagement with traditional authorities, local government, and host communities, the company aims to create shared value while supporting stability, safety, and inclusive growth in the Birim North District.
