10 dead as Ghana Armed Forces escort convoy attacked in Binduri

A military-escorted convoy transporting 140 civilians was ambushed by unidentified gunmen on Monday, April 27, leaving 10 people dead.

The attack, which occurred on the road from Bawku to Bolgatanga, resulted in the tragic deaths of three civilians and the subsequent killing of seven assailants by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

In a statement released by Naval Captain Veronica Arhin, the GAF confirmed that troops successfully repelled the assault.

Following a pursuit of the attackers, military personnel recovered a G3 automatic rifle and 216 rounds of ammunition from a suspect who sought refuge in a mosque.

Ten additional suspects have been detained.

The GAF has issued a stern warning to the public to avoid interfering with security operations and extended condolences to the victims’ families.
