Doreen Hammond, editor of the Junior Graphic newspaper, has been adjudged the 2018 Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Journalist of the Year.
Ms Hammonad aside winning the most prestigious award of the night, also won the award for the Best Columnist Award of the Year. The Ghana Journalist Association Awards was held on Saturday the 23rd of November at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.
The association celebrated their 70th year anniversary as well, under the theme, “Democracy, Freedom and Independence of the Media in Ghana”.
The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) topped the awards ceremony, receiving a total of 12 awards. Until her appointment as editor of the Junior Graphic, Ms Hammond was the Features Editor of the Daily Graphic.
Ms Hammond was surrounded by friends, family and other well-wishers as she was presented with her award by the Senior Minister of State.
The awards ceremony was graced by the presence of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
