Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has given students free books.

The legislator delivered the books to his constituents and announced the commencement of his new program to get books to students in the area.

In a post on Facebook on Saturday, March 21, Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that his team will continue a house-to-house book delivery to distribute thousands of books.

The students in North Tongu don’t only get to read these books for free but also get to keep them.

“Launched a free house-to-house book delivery initiative yesterday to distribute thousands of books directly to the homes of all kids in my beloved constituency. The children will keep and own all books they receive”, he wrote on Facebook.

The MP said the initiative had become necessary due to the shut down of schools due to the Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

“Due to the closure of schools forced by the Coronavirus pandemic, we have mobilized enough books for all pupils/students. Parents in North Tongu can call 024 650 7817 if books have not been delivered to their homes by 1pm on Wednesday”, he added.

Schools in Ghana are to remain closed for four weeks starting from Monday, March 16, 2020.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa hopes his initiative helps improve the home learning experience of students in the North Tongu constituency.
