The Accra High Court has dismissed an injunction application seeking to stop the National Identification Authority (NIA) from still registering people in the Eastern Region.
According to the court, the decision by the NIA to go ahead with the registration does not contradict the President’s directive suspending all public gatherings.
The Judge, Justice Anthony Oppong explained that the directive did not stop operations of businesses but rather asked operators to observe certain protocols including social distancing.
The president announced the ban on all gatherings of more than 25 people in the country, to help curb the spread of Coronavirus.
