Mr Selorm Adadevoh, Chief Executive Officer of MTN, has said all subscribers who bought data between December 1 and midnight of December 3, should expect a 100% bonus on their data purchased.

Mr Adadevoh says this is compensation for all subscribers lost during the period.

Speaking at a press conference at the MTN Headoffice, he said the challenges faced by customers was as a result of the decision to stop the upfront deduction of the 9% CST charge and to introduce tariff increase in its place.

He said, “We apologise sincerely to our customers on behalf of myself, my team and MTN for the issues that they’ve faced. We’re doing everything we can to ensure that we resolve them, immediately.”

“In view of that anyone who purchased a data bundle between December 1 and midnight tonight [Tuesday] would receive, the same value back, as our of saying “We dey for you”. That process would start at 6 pm today. “Customers should get the level of values that they were expecting, by tomorrow morning,” he concluded

In explaining the new absurd bundle tariffs offered by MTN, Mr Adadevoh said, the implementation of the CST, while introducing the no expiry bundle a commercial product they decided to introduce did not go as planned.

He said, “We thought that it (no expiry bundle) would give our customers a lot more value, that plus the Flexi bundles would mean that we have given them more flexibility.”

“It was really about giving back value to customers but we didn’t get the implementation to reflect that so we’ll correct that tonight,” he added.

He revealed that the plan to move away from preset values and introduce flexibility in the purchase of data bundles also accounted for the anomalies experienced by customers.

All issues with regard to the use of MOMO for purchases as well as customers who made purchases but did not receive their data bundles have all been resolved and refunded.
