Former president Jerry John Rawlings has described his successor, John Agyekum Kufuor as a constitutional terrorist.

Ex-president Kufuor took over the realms of affairs of Ghana after his predecessor had ruled for about 19 years.

Though Kufuor was the first leader under the Fourth Republic guided by the 1992 constitution, Rawlings believes that the former unduly utilized constitutionalism to terrorise many.

“In this life time of mine, political activities, that man was one of the worst constitutional terrorists I have come across”, he stated.

The ex-military leader stressed that the level of corruption and injustice witnessed during Kufuor’s regime can’t be measured.

“It was really bad. And I hope enough people will see what I am talking when my book finally comes out. The persecution, corruption that was going on and some of the killings…I am referring to Kufuor’s government”, he told Kwaku Sakyi-Addo on Asaase Radio.

He also accused his successor of causing starvation in the country by eschewing the advocacy for family planning.

“Family planning was a subject I always spoke about. Lack of family planning virtually undermines your development program. You creating starvation for yourself, of resources etc”

“When I am, during the campaign period, advocating for family planning and in the next corner, there is another politician saying ‘give birth’ ‘give birth”

“That is Kufuor for you. How? What is wrong with this guy?”, he quizzed.

Jerry John Rawlings also believes that his constant criticisms of J.A Kufuor earned him public sympathy.
