Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has called President Akuffo Addo’s decision to withdraw the amendment bill article 243 from parliament a premature one.
The NDC flagbearer made this statement while speaking to citizens at the Mafi Hogbetsotso festival in the Volta Region.
Speaking on the issue, Mahama said that it was not advisable for party politics to be present at the district level but was in support of DCEs being elected in a non- partizan platform.
He added that his government is watching with interest the next action of the president regarding the issue and if he fails to implement it, his government once voted into power in 2020 will revisit the amendment bill.
