Vodafone customers now need no data to use Uber

Customers of Vodafone Ghana will now enjoy a hustle free use of the ride catching app, Uber after both companies entered into a mutually beneficial partnership.

Per the partnership, Vodafone Ghana now offers a zero megabyte charge for the use of the Uber service app.

Drivers who use Vodafone’s mobile internet service, together with passengers alike, will not be charged for using the Uber app.

Pushpinder Gujral, Director of Consumer Business Unit at Vodafone who was commenting on the partnership said, “We are excited about this strategic partnership, as it will offer great convenience to our customers particularly during this festive season. At Vodafone Ghana, we remain committed to finding innovative ways to bring new and rich experiences, which are rare, to our customers.”

He went on to add that, “This initiative will bring great relief to Uber’s partner-drivers who sometimes run out of data, whilst using the app. The challenges associated with not having data when one urgently needs to request an Uber have also been eliminated.”

This initiative is expected to boost Vodafone’s market share and also ensure that the millions of riders and drivers who use the Uber app each day will find it highly beneficial.

Uber on their end, through Jessica Poku, Uber’s Country Manager for Ghana, said, “We remain committed to driving down costs for our driver-partners to help improve overall earnings, and our partnership with Vodafone will help make this happen.”

“We are excited that this partnership increase and improve access to transportation in the country, through our platform” She concluded.
