Re: False and Baseless Allegations on Post-Election Violence

My attention has been drawn to the allegations made by Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, NPP MP for Asokwa, accusing me and another individual of being responsible for the post-election violence in our country. Ms. Appiagyei, during a recent press briefing, claimed that both I and former National Security Coordinator Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, who are associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), orchestrated violent incidents following the 2024 General Elections.

I categorically refute these claims, deeming them “categorically false, malicious, and baseless.” I am deeply disappointed by such unfounded accusations, especially coming from an Honorable Member of Parliament. These statements are not only irresponsible but also undermine the peace and security efforts that I have dedicated my career to.

Throughout my decades of public service, particularly as the former Minister for National Security, I have been committed to maintaining Ghana’s stability and peace. Hon. Appiagyei’s reckless accusations pose a serious threat to post-election unity and national cohesion.

In light of these false allegations, I have referred the matter to the Inspector General of Police for an immediate investigation. I trust that a thorough inquiry will reveal the truth and uphold the integrity of our nation’s security framework.

Kofi Totobi Quakyi’s unwavering dedication to Ghana’s peace and security is evident from his extensive public service record. His call for an official investigation underscores his commitment to transparency and justice, aiming to preserve national unity in the wake of electoral tensions.

The NPP and its members have yet to respond to Totobi Quakyi’s denials. As the investigation unfolds, all parties remain hopeful that clarity and truth will restore trust and harmony within the nation.
