Fidelity Bank Ghana has expanded its Orange Impact Initiative with the commissioning of a fully renovated six-unit classroom block for the Atampuurum B KG/Primary School in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
The project, which is the 11th school to benefit under the programme since its launch in 2022, underscores the Bank’s commitment to improving educational opportunities in underserved communities, a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency said.
The school previously faced major infrastructural challenges.
These included a leaking roof, unfinished walls, and inadequate furniture, thus compelling pupils to often compelled to study under trees.
The new facility has transformed the environment into a safe and conducive place for learning.
The building now has a dedicated office, staff common room, and a library.
In addition, the Bank refurbished the school’s 11-unit washroom facilities, significantly improving hygiene and dignity for pupils and teachers.
Speaking on behalf of Mr Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Mr Issahaku Ibrahim, Branch Sales and Service Manager for Bolga Post, said the project reflected the true essence of the initiative.
“When we first visited Atampuurum in 2022, we saw young children learning under harsh conditions and teachers striving against the odds,” he explained.
“Today, we are handing over not just a school building but a sanctuary for dreams, a place where curiosity and potential can truly flourish.
“This is the heart of our Orange Impact Initiative – ensuring that no child is denied the dignity of a proper education. We are proud to be Here for Your Journey.”
The commissioning ceremony was attended by community members, chiefs, elders, parents, and pupils. Officials from the Bolgatanga Municipal Directorate of Education were also present.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Bolgatanga, Mr Roland Atanga, commended the Bank for its commitment to inclusive development.
He noted that the school would have a lasting impact on the community.
The Headteacher, staff, and community elders expressed gratitude to the Bank’s Managing Director.
They honoured the occasion with a citation and traditional gifts as tokens of appreciation.
The day also featured musical performances by a local women’s group and displays by pupils, reflecting the community’s joy.
The Orange Impact Initiative is Fidelity Bank’s flagship corporate social responsibility project in education.
It focuses on upgrading infrastructure and access for marginalised schools across Ghana.
Since 2022, the statement said, schools had benefitted. These include Duose D/A Primary School, Mamprobi Ebenezer 4, Okogyeasuo MA Basic School, and the Fodome Kordzeto M/A Primary and JHS.
The rest are Nyameyekrom M/A KG and Primary, Accra Royal JHS, AbbeyKorpe DA Basic School, Techiman Baptist Basic School, Pakyi Banko M/A Basic School, and the Tesano Cluster of Schools, which recently received a modern e-library.
“With the commissioning of Atampuurum B KG/Primary School, Fidelity Bank has once again demonstrated that sustainable impact goes beyond banking,” the statement said.
“It touches lives, empowers communities, and shapes Ghana’s future through education.”
