Mr Bright Asamoah Brefo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, and Mr Sebastian Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, have distributed about 10,000 customised exercise books and 5,000 pens to basic schools across the constituency.
The gesture, which formed part of the MP’s efforts to improve teaching and learning in the area, benefited schools like the AGBL Primary, Methodist Primary, Community Primary, Presbyterian Primary, and Lineso Primary among others.
Mr Brefo speaking at the ceremony to distribute the items said the initiative was part of his broader vision to promote quality learning and to provide school children with essential materials to excel academically.
He stated that equipping learners with essential materials would not only boost their motivation to learn, but also alleviate the financial burden on parents, thereby creating a more supportive environment for effective teaching and learning.
He advised parents to invest in the education of their children to help secure a better future for them.
The MP promised to complete ongoing educational projects started by the his predecessor to tackle infrastructure gaps in the municipality.
Mr Richard Boateng, the Bibiani Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Director of Education, thanked the MP for his generosity, and charged teachers and parents to ensure that children used the exercise books wisely to achieve the intended purpose of the donation.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, lauded the MP’s exceptional initiative, which he believed would produce scholars in the area soon.
He advised the school children to limit their time on social media, and focus on their education for a brighter future.
He urged individuals and companies operating in the municipality to follow the MP’s example and support the children with other educational materials.
