The Methodist Church of Ghana inducts new Tema Diocesan Bishop

The Methodist Church of Ghana, has inducted the Right Reverend Ebenezer Popeson Adjei as the new bishop for the Tema Diocese.

The Most Rev. Professor J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the Presiding Bishop, inducted Rt. Rev. Adjei as the sixth bishop of the Tema Diocese, taking over from the Rt. Rev. Samuel Ofori Akyea.

The Presiding Bishop, as part of the induction service, presented the new Tema Diocesan Bishop with a ring, skullcap, pectoral cross, pastoral staff, Holy Bible and a copy of the church’s constitution.

He charged the new bishop to embrace himself with the companionship of God’s presence to thrive well in the ministry, as stated in Exodus 33:14.

He added that even though human advice was important, he should walk in the will of God to help him avoid failure as a leader.

He cautioned the newly inducted bishop to avoid complaints, which had become a mantra for people in leadership, and charged him to serve in his position devoid of bitterness.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Rt. Rev. Adjei, stated that the induction service served as a responsibility for the fulfilment of the ministry; therefore, he would deliver by the grace of God.

He said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” promising that he would, serve the church without complaints as charged by the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana.

He emphasised that those who do God’s work never lack God’s resources, and he believed that God, who called him, would empower him with both spiritual and human resources to discharge his duties.

He urged Christians to have hope and depend on God while maintaining unity for national cohesion.

The Rt. Rev. Adjei, prior to his induction, was actively involved in the Enchi Calvary Methodist Church as assistant class leader, local preacher, chorister, singing band member, guild member and circuit youth organiser.

He responded to the call to ministry and entered Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon, in 1993 and completed it in 1996 with a Diploma in Theology.

He has served faithfully in several circuits and dioceses as a superintendent minister for Tema Circuit St. Paul Cathedral, Mt. Zion Society, and Tema West Circuit, among other areas of service.
