A high court in Kumasi has sentenced Inspector Ahmed Twumasi alias “Tycoon,” a police officer, to life imprisonment for the gruesome murder of his 26-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maa Adwoa, at Adum.
The court found Inspector Twumasi guilty by a 5-2 jury verdict on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The convict was arrested for fatally shooting Maadwoa, a mother of one, multiple times in the abdomen and chest on April 20, 2023, at Adum, near the Aseda House, after a little misunderstanding, which ensued between them.
Inspector Twumasi, who was with the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), at the time of the incident, will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
He initially pleaded not guilty when he first appeared before the same court on July 26, 2023, however, after several court appearances, he has finally been sentenced to life imprisonment by the high court.
Family members who besieged the courtroom expressed relief after the verdict.
Madam Adwoa Nyarko, the mother of the deceased victim, thanked the media for the consistent coverage of the case, describing the judgment as “long overdue justice” for her daughter.
After two years of battling the case, the docket is finally closed.
