The Krachi East Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has conducted inspections of fuel stations in the municipality to curb potential fire outbreaks as Ghana enters the dry season.
The team inspected fuel stations for fire compliance, checked for fire extinguishers, drainage systems, and overall safety protocols.
These inspections involved assessing compliance with safety standards, educating vendors on risks and ensuring equipment such as fire extinguishers were functional.
The objective was to identify risks and hazards that were likely to cause fire disasters and institute safety measures in a bid to protecting lives and properties.
Mr Jonathan Dzunu, the Krachi East Municipal NADMO Coordinator, emphasised the importance of fuel stations in adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents.
Mr Kolani Mumuni Isah, Fire officer for Krachi East Municipal, advised fuel station operators to always check their equipment to ensure they were in good condition.
The inspection team also used the opportunity to educate the public on safety measures to take when at fuel stations.
