Oti Regional Minister calls for strengthened procurement processes

Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, has underscored the need for enhanced transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public procurement, as the region works to improve service delivery and accelerate development.

The Minister made the remarks when he opened a regional capacity-building workshop on the 2025 Public Procurement Law Amendments and the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS) at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council Conference Hall.

The workshop brought together, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors, Heads of Departments, and procurement officers from across the region.

It aimed at equipping procurement officers and other stakeholders with the requisite knowledge to implement the revised procurement laws and effectively utilize GHANEPS in their institutions.

Mr Gyapong noted that effective procurement practices were crucial for the successful execution of government projects in sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, and agriculture.

“The new amendments and the adoption of GHANEPS mark a significant step in strengthening transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the management of public procurement,” he said.

He added that improved procurement systems would support the region’s development agenda by ensuring value for money in the use of public funds.

The Minister urged participants to take full advantage of the training to sharpen their skills and contribute to building robust procurement structures in the Oti region.
