Tano North Assembly institutes ‘TANOFEST26’ to promote culture and tourism-MCE

Mr Pius Sampson Opoku, the Tano North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the Ahafo Region says the assembly has instituted the ‘TANOFEST26’ programme to unearth and harness the cultural and tourism potential for economic development.

He explained that the implementation of the ‘TANOFEST26’ would commence in 2026 and would be incorporated into the Easter festivities that would showcase potential and unique features of culture and tradition and tourist destination sites in the municipality.

Mr Opoku said this when he addressed the Second Ordinary Meeting of Sixth Assembly at Duayaw-Nkwanta, the Municipal capital, saying the celebration of the fiesta further sought to promote peace and unity devoid of partisanship.

He said: “We also anticipate involving the Duayaw-Nkwanta natives, resident abroad, for them to also contribute their quota towards our development agenda”, saying in spite of numerous challenges, the Assembly would work hard to advance the progressive development of the municipality.

Mr Opoku called on the people to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity and support the reset Ghana agenda of the government.

Mr Francis Datsumor Mensah, the Programmes Officer of the Tano North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) said the NCCE also remained committed to improving civic education in the municipality.
