Mr Edem Ackuaku, a government appointee at the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly and the Chief Executive of Delmark Agro and Pharmacy has organised free National Health Insurance cards registration and renewal for residents in Akatsi South.
The ongoing exercise, in collaboration with the Akatsi South Municipal office of the Scheme, has so far registered over 600 beneficiaries across the Municipality.
Mr Ackuaku, a marketing expert with a focus on Agriculture, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency that the exercise formed part of his continuous benevolent activities to ensure easy access to quality healthcare for all manner of persons.
He explained that there was a need for all to support in key areas of need in society “so that our people can have peace of mind in their quest for survival.”
Mr Ackuaku, who is also a former Municipal Best Farmer for Akatsi South, disclosed to the GNA that healthy living promoted economic growth and that no one must be denied access to quality healthcare due to lack of financial support.
He pledged his commitment to contributing his quota to improving agricultural activities across the Municipality and beyond.
The exercise, which commenced on Monday, is expected to end on Wednesday, December 3 at Avenorpeme.
Some beneficiaries, the GNA engaged, were full of praise for the kind gesture.
They, however, appealed to the NHIS Akatsi Office to intensify their public education on the relevance and effectiveness of the Scheme’s insurance policies.
Mr Francis Dotse Bedzo, the Akatsi Municipal NHIS Manager, on his part, expressed gratitude to Mr Ackuaku for the exercise.
He assured that their clients would enjoy the full benefits of their insurance.
Mr Bedzo also indicated that their office was always ready to receive complaints from clients such as illegal fees charged by some health facilities that have registered under the scheme.
