Volta Resilient Foundation renovates Ada-Foah Health Centre’s records department

The Volta Resilient Foundation (VRF) has renovated the records department of the Ada-Foah Health Centre and supplied the facility with bedsheets and essential consumables as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the Ada-East District.

Mr Julius Odoi, the Director of VRF, said the gesture followed an observation he made during a visit to the health centre in 2021, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Odoi, who was born at the facility, said the condition of the records department at the time was worrying, with files scattered across floors, desks and overfilled shelves as the facility transitioned from manual filing to an electronic system.

He said the situation affected efficiency and created discomfort for patients seeking care.

He further recalled experiencing a shortage of bedsheets during a period of illness when he was admitted to the male ward, forcing health workers to attend to him while seated, describing the experience as unsettling, strengthening his resolve to support the facility that had served him since birth.

He noted that although parts of the health centre had received renovations in the past, the records department remained unattended to.“When a community development opportunity became available through support from the Muslims Across The World (MATW), I prioritised the rehabilitation of the unit,” he said.

Mr Odoi expressed gratitude to the Ada-East District Health Directorate and the management of the health centre for their cooperation, and also acknowledged the support of his staff for contributing towards the successful completion of the project.

He reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting health facilities and strengthening community health systems in the region.

Management of the health directorate thanked the VRF for the gesture, noting that the renovated records department would help in staff efficiency and enhance the experience of patients, and promised to put the facility to good use.
