Assemblyman appeals for streetlights, as residents discover lifeless body at Penkwase     

Mr Joe Appiah, the Assembly Member of the Penkwase Lowcost Electoral Area in the Sunyani Municipality, has appealed to the city authorities to fix streetlights to improve security in the area as the Christmas festivities set-in.

His appeals followed a discovery of a lifeless body of a young man within his 30s in the area.  
Residents told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that they woke up to discover the lifeless body of the young man lying prostate with multiple wounds, in the early hours of Wednesday December 3, 2025.

The Police have since retrieved and deposited the body at the mortuary.

Mr Appiah told the GNA that the poor lighting system at Penkwasi enclave was contributing to the crime wave, saying with the streetlights, the situation could be brought under control.

He explained that he received a distress call from a resident around 0430 hours informing him about the discovery of the lifeless body.

Mr Appiah said fighting crime remained a collective responsibility and advised the people to report strange movements and suspicious characters in the area to the police.
