Finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta presents 2020 budget

Ghana’s minister of finance Ken Ofori-Atta on Wednesday 13th November 2019 presented the 2020 national budget statement and economic policies of the government to the parliament.

The minister in his speech described 2019 as a very good year for Ghana, stating that it was evident in the various sectors of the economy contrary to reports from some section of the media.

Ken Ofori Atta added that government has directly or indirectly put about GHC112.2 billion into the pockets of Ghanaians since they came into power through its major initiatives and social interventions.

He also mentioned that government’s Free SHS Policy had saved parents a whooping amount of GHC11.8 billion over the last three years.

It is a constitutional requirement for the Minister of Finance on behalf of the President to present to Parliament every fiscal year the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government, for scrutiny and debate.
