Over 500 residents benefit from free eye screening in Ketu South

More than 500 residents of Agbodzakope–Alagashito, in the Klikor Traditional Area of the Ketu South Municipality, have benefited from a free eye screening exercise organised by Nku Foundation.

A large turnout of community members, including children, farmers, traders, and the elderly, participated in the exercise.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Madam Edem Diana Morvey, Founder and Event Organiser of the Nku Foundation, expressed joy at the number of people who participated in the exercise.

She explained that many residents lived with serious eye problems but could not afford to visit the hospital for care due to financial challenges.

Madam Morvey announced that the Foundation had set aside funds to support more than 50 people, requiring major eye surgeries after the screening.

She added that each eye screening project cost the Foundation about $10,000, noting that she did not expect the cost of the exercise to be less than that amount.

The Founder encouraged the public to go for regular eye check-ups, saying healthy eyes helped people work better, learn faster, and live safely.

Torgbui Agbowe II, Dufia of Agbodzakope–Alagashito, and Mama Dewuafea II both welcomed the intervention and thanked the Nku Foundation for choosing their community.

He said many people in the area were suffering from different illnesses but could not access proper care because of lack of money.

He appealed to other non-governmental organisations, corporate bodies, and individuals to visit the community with more development projects—not only in health, but also in education, ICT, and infrastructure.

One of the beneficiaries, Madam Comfort Doe, expressed gratitude to the Chief and Queenmother for inviting Nku Foundation to the community, while thanking Madam Morvey for her kindness and willingness to spend such an amount to support them.
