Afife traders laud free sheds at Edem Agbana Carnival

Traders at Afife in the Ketu North Municipality have expressed appreciation and excitement over the provision of free sheds for vendors during the third edition of the Edem Agbana Carnival, held at Afife.

The carnival attracted a large number of traders from Afife and surrounding communities, who displayed a wide range of goods including food, beverages and other merchandise, creating a vibrant commercial atmosphere alongside the entertainment activities.

Madam Mavis, a food vendor, told the Ghana News Agency that the gesture was unprecedented in the area, noting that it was rare for an event of such scale, featuring top-rated artistes, to also provide free and organised space for traders to sell their wares.

“This has never happened here before. Usually, when big programmes are organised, sellers are left to struggle for space, but this time we were given free sheds to operate comfortably,” she said.

Another trader, Sis Akos, who sold drinks at the event, expressed optimism about making good sales, adding that the large crowd and the organised setting had boosted her confidence and business prospects.

The 2025 Edem Agbana Carnival in Afife marked the third edition of the event, following earlier successful editions held at Dzodze and Penyi in previous years.

The carnival, organised by the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Mr Eric Edem Agbana, continues to serve as a platform for entertainment, youth engagement and local economic empowerment across the constituency.
