Anthony Joshua injured in Nigerian car crash, two others dead

British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua was injured in a serious car crash on the Ogun–Lagos expressway in Nigeria on Monday.

According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command, the collision resulted in two fatalities.

The 36-year-old boxer, who has family roots in Sagamu, Ogun State, was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved.

An eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo told The Punch newspaper that the crash involved a Lexus and a Pajero.

Joshua was seated in the rear of the Lexus, accompanied by his security detail in a separate vehicle following behind.

Following the incident, Joshua and other injured individuals were transported to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Photos and videos from the scene show a significantly damaged vehicle.

Earlier on the day of the crash, Joshua had posted a video to Instagram showing him playing table tennis.

The former world heavyweight champion has been in Nigeria following his recent fight on December 19th.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by local authorities.
