A man seen in a widely circulated video firing a gun in a celebratory salute to Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has been arrested on the direct orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohunu.

The incident occurred during the musician’s visit to Ghana as part of the “December in GH” festivities.

The suspect, identified by police as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg,” was filmed at an event firing multiple shots into the air as Asake and his entourage looked on.

In the video, Sadick, dressed in white, can be heard telling the crowd he was seeking permission to fire “warning shots” to celebrate his “brother from another mother,” before proceeding to fire approximately 10 rounds.

Following the IGP’s directive, Sadick was apprehended and the firearm was retrieved. Police sources confirm the weapon is a DERYA MK-12 shotgun, registered under the number 22-GHA 1162.

“Warning shots are not allowed in Ghana,” Sadick is heard stating in the video prior to the act, acknowledging the illegality of his subsequent actions.

The arrest underscores a firm stance by Ghanaian authorities against the unauthorized and dangerous discharge of firearms, even in alleged celebratory contexts. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
