Volta GNFS intensifies night patrols to ensure fire-free incidences

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Volta Regional Command has intensified night patrols to prevent fires to safeguard lives and properties during the New Year festivities across communities.

The heightened vigilance was part of its proactive measures to curb fire outbreaks during the festive season.

Fire officers conducted routine night patrols across identified high-risk locations, including event centres, markets, fuel stations and densely populated neighbourhoods.

The patrols focused on monitoring electrical installations, ensuring safe power connections and enforcing basic fire safety standards at public gatherings.

During the 31st night celebrations, officers swiftly intervened to avert danger after detecting burning tyres beneath a high-tension power line, preventing a potential disaster.

The Command also engaged event organisers and operators of entertainment centres, offering practical guidance on fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

ADOI Kelvin Hope Bedzrah, the Public Relations Officer of the GNFS Volta Region, said in a press statement that Service remained alert especially during the festive season and would do so throughout the year

He reported that “Our officers were deployed to anticipate risks and respond promptly to any threat.”
