The late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mr. Naser Toure Mahama, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, will be buried on Monday, January 5, 2026, in line with Islamic rites.
The announcement was made at his residence by Ayawaso North MP, Mr. Yussif Issaka Jajah, who noted that President John Dramani Mahama intervened to expedite the release of the body to the family.
The final Islamic funeral prayer (Janazah) will be held at 1000 hours at the constituency office on the Kanda Highway, led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
The body will then be conveyed to the Madina Cemetery for burial.
Mr. Jajah said the burial marks the first phase of funeral observances, with further rites to be announced after family consultations.
Mr. Mahama, serving his fourth term in Parliament, died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
He served on several committees, including as Vice Chairman of the Energy Committee, and as a member of the Roads and Transport, House, and Private Members’ Bills and Motions Committees.
