Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the party does party does not take the votes it received from Ghanaians in the December 2024 general elections for granted.
He acknowledged the votes obtained by the party in Wenchi in both the presidential and parliamentary elections, describing them as impressive.
Mr. Nketiah made the remarks while addressing community stakeholders and party supporters at Nkonsia in the Wenchi Constituency, as part of his “Thank You” tour of the Bono Region.
The two-day tour, which began in Nkonsia in the Wenchi Municipality, aims at engaging community leaders and party faithful to strengthen the NDC’s relationship with the people.
Mr Nketiah commended the people of Wenchi for the massive support they gave the NDC in the 2024 elections and urged them to continue rallying behind the party to help advance development in the area and restore Wenchi to its former glory.
He emphasised that it was the responsibility of the people to lift Wenchi back to prominence, saying the work was hard, but they should not be perturbed, but be determined.
Mr Nketiah further noted that the government recognised the poor state of roads in the area, hence awarding contracts for the Wenchi-Wa road, capturing the Wenchi-Sampa Road under the “Big Push” initiative, and including the Nsawkaw-Berekum road.
He said completion of these projects would bring significant transformation and better connect Wenchi to other parts of the region.
Alhaji Haruna Seidu, Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, noted that the constituency had witnessed a remarkable improvement within just one year of governance.
Nana Damoah Koasane Adusi Poku Kafabaae IV, Wenchi Akyeamehene, commended the government for its development initiatives and appealed to the authorities to address youth unemployment to engage in advancing the socioeconomic development of the country.
