Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a hopeful in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, has urged delegates to have confidence in his leadership and vote for him.
He said the choice of delegates would have far-reaching implications for both the party and the nation, stressing the need for a candidate with a strong record in governance and economic management.
Dr Bawumia appealed while addressing NPP delegates and supporters in the Asawase Constituency during a campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.

The NPP presidential primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026.
He underscored the importance of presenting a candidate with experience and measurable results in sectors critical to national development.
Dr Bawumia announced plans to introduce a Database Welfare System (DBWS) to consolidate and provide easy access to party members’ information.
He also pledged to allocate 3,000 of the 7,000 governance appointments to constituencies to ensure equitable distribution.

Additionally, he proposed a Constituency-Based Budget System to document and promptly address constituency-specific challenges.
Citing internal committee reports, he attributed the party’s recent electoral defeat to a “one-man-chop syndrome,” assuring delegates that such practices would not continue under his leadership.
He called on party members to unite, appealing to delegates to entrust him with the mandate to lead the party again.

During the visit, Dr Bawumia facilitated the reconciliation of Mr Manaf Ibrahim, Mr Alidu Seidu, and Mr Ali Suraj, who had earlier had differences.
He was accompanied by Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Mr Kofi Dwumah, Mr Collins Ntim, Mr Simon Osei Mensah, Mr Ben Abdullah Banda, Mr Saalim Bamba, Dr Ayew Afriyie, Mr Kennedy Kankam, and Alhaji Mohammed Moro.
