A fierce fire tore through shops and mechanic workshops at Sofoline Magazine in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Sunday night, leaving a trail of destruction and devastated traders in its wake.
The blaze erupted around 7:00 p.m., engulfing multiple businesses and vehicles under repair. Flames consumed wares, tools, and equipment, reducing them to ash as desperate shop owners and artisans scrambled to salvage anything they could.
Chaos unfolded as emotions overwhelmed the scene. One woman collapsed upon discovering her goods were destroyed, while other distraught traders tried to breach safety perimeters, forcing firefighters to both combat the spreading inferno and restrain anxious residents.
TV3’s William Evans-Nkum, reporting from the site, described an atmosphere of unbearable distress as traders confronted their mounting losses.
At the time, the police had not yet arrived to assist with crowd control, complicating the emergency response.
Firefighters battled into the night, working to contain the flames under a thick blanket of smoke.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and no fatalities have been officially reported; however, authorities have assured full investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire outbreak.
