A 70-year-old man has died in a domestic fire that razed a residential building at Sefwi Adjoafua in the Western North Region.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that the incident, which occurred on Monday, February 16, destroyed a two-bedroom house with an attached kitchen.
The victim has been identified as Kwasi Nkansah.
According to a post on the GNFS’s official Facebook page, fire crews responded to the scene but faced significant challenges, including heavy rainfall and difficult road conditions.

Despite the obstacles, the firefighters were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring structures.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Ghana National Fire Service has issued a renewed appeal to the public to prioritise fire safety.

The Service urged residents to pay special attention to vulnerable individuals in their households, adhere to basic fire prevention practices, and report emergencies without delay.
“Stay safe: supervise the vulnerable, practise fire safety, and report emergencies immediately,” the GNFS advised.
