Head-on collision on Cape Coast-Takoradi highway leaves 11 injured

Eleven people sustained injuries in a serious traffic collision on the Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway on Tuesday evening.

According to an official release from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident occurred at Eduadjei shortly after 7:15 PM.

Crews from the Komenda Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Responders found that an Opel Astra, travelling from Cape Coast toward Komenda, had collided head-on with a Nissan minibus heading in the opposite direction.

Bystanders had already assisted ten passengers from the minibus prior to the arrival of emergency services; they were subsequently transported to Elmina Poly Clinic for treatment.

The driver of the Opel Astra, however, remained trapped within the wreckage and required extrication by firefighters before being conveyed to the same medical facility.

Medical officials confirmed the victims comprise nine males and two females.

Following the rescue operation, personnel cleared the roadway of debris to mitigate traffic buildup.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the crash.
