Religious Affairs Minister urges Muslims to celebrate Eid safely, promote tolerance

Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MLGCRA), Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, has urged Muslims to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr in a safe and responsible manner while promoting tolerance and national unity.

In a statement signed by the Ministry, the Minister called on Muslims to embrace the values of peace, compassion and social responsibility as they mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“I urge all Muslims to celebrate safely, embrace the principles of tolerance, and contribute meaningfully to the well-being of their families, communities, and society at large,” he said.

Mr Ibrahim noted that Eid al-Fitr was a significant occasion for reflection, spiritual renewal and the reaffirmation of commitment to justice and mutual respect.

He said the celebration should also serve as a platform to strengthen unity and harmony among citizens, stressing the need for peaceful coexistence across religious and cultural lines.

The Minister encouraged Muslims to use the period to promote understanding and solidarity within their communities, while contributing to national development.

On behalf of the Ministry, he prayed for peace, harmony and continued progress for the nation, and wished all Muslims a joyous and memorable Eid celebration.
