The Rotaract Club of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has donated essential items to the New Horizon E.P. Educational Centre for the Blind in Ho, Volta Region.
The items included a double socket, four-in-one burner, braille motherboard, braille sheets, sink pipe, fan, cylinder, and extension board. The donation formed part of the Club’s “Alavanyo Project.”
Rotaractor Mary Mawutor Djimanye, President of the Club, told the Ghana News Agency that the gesture aimed to provide critical resources to enhance the living standards and learning conditions of students at the centre.

She said the initiative was rooted in the Rotary principle of “Service Above Self,” reaffirming the Club’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusive development.
Ms. Djimanye emphasised the need for society to pay greater attention to persons with disabilities and support them to realise their full potential.
She noted that persons with visual impairment possess immense potential and that access to appropriate resources was essential to ensure they are not left behind in their educational pursuits.
Mr. Eric Kwabla Ofori, Director of the New Horizon E.P. Educational Centre for the Blind, expressed profound gratitude to the Club for the support.
He said that with the right support, a conducive environment, and adequate learning materials, persons with visual impairment could thrive and perform to the best of their abilities.
Mr. Ofori added that the donated items would significantly improve the centre’s daily operations and academic performance of students, and he appealed to the public to continue supporting the institution.
