Police to ensure safe, peaceful Easter festivities

The Ghana Police Service on Thursday assured the public of a safe, peaceful and incident-free Easter holiday with the robust security measures put in place.

A press release issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director General of Public Affairs Directorate, copied to the Ghana News Agency, said police personnel had been deployed across all key locations in the country, especially within the Kwahu enclave.

Event grounds, recreational centres, and known tourist sites, as well as other areas expected to experience high human and vehicular traffic, would all be protected, it said.

The Service had also intensified patrols and operational teams detailed along major routes leading to and from Kwahu to enhance security and ensure public safety, the release noted.

It said Motor traffic personnel had also been deployed to manage traffic and minimise congestion throughout the period.

“Additionally, intelligence operations have been activated across the country to prevent and respond swiftly to any criminal activity,” it said.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to all safety guidelines. Motorists are urged to observe road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, refrain from drunk driving and take directions from our officers to ensure safety on our roads.”

 “We also encourage all patrons to be mindful of their personal safety and belongings and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police officer or Police station.”
