Philanthropist bolsters mobility at New Horizon E.P. Educational Centre for the Blind 

Mr Frank Kwesi Botwey, a philanthropist has made a generous donation of white canes to the New Horizon E.P. Educational Centre for the Blind in Ho, a significant boost to inclusive education and independent living. 

The white cane is a global symbol of independence for the visually impaired, and the donation aimed to provide the learners with the essential tools needed for unrestricted mobility and dignity. 

Mr Botwey said told Ghana News Agency that equipping the students with the tools was necessary to ensure that physical barriers did not hinder their ability to pursue education and lead productive lives.

He said the white canes served as more than just mobility aids; they represented the rights of students to move freely and safely within their school and community. 

Mr Botwey who is also the President of the Rotary Club of Dansoman in Accra emphasised the importance of the items in allowing the students to navigate obstacles independently, which is a critical first step toward full social and economic inclusion. 

Mr Eric Kwabla Ofori, Director of the Centre, emphasised that such partnerships were vital for the upkeep and academic success of the pupils. 

He appealed to other corporate bodies and benevolent individuals to support the Centre’s holistic development.
