The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christianity – Apostle Mensah  

Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI) has reiterated that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christianity. 

He explained that Jesus through his death on the cross and resurrection had demonstrated God’s definitive defeat of death, and offering eternal life to believers. 

Apostle Mensah said this in his homily at the climax of the GCCI Greater Accra Regional Easter Convention at Frafraha near Accra on the theme “Living to Win, Church and Disciple”.

He said Jesus’ resurrection guarantees the future resurrection of believers on the last day. 

The Chairman said the second coming of Jesus Christ was imminent and that he was coming to reward each and everyone according to their works. 

On reasons for Jesus’ second coming, Apostle Mensah said Jesus was coming to judge each and everyone according to their works. 

Quoting from the Bible, Apostle Mensah said: “For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil”. 

Apostle Mensah cautioned Christians that God would judge the secrets of every man.

Citing from the Bible “This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares”. 

He said the declaration that “it is appointed unto men once to die, after that judgement”. 

Regarding the second reason for Jesus’ second coming, Apostle Mensah said he was coming to reward each and everyone according to their works. 

He said the third reason Jesus was coming the second time for his bride – the Church; stating that “he is coming for a Church without a spot or a wrinkle”. 

Concerning the fourth reason for Jesus’ second coming, Apostle Mensah said Jesus’ was coming to judge everyone. 

He said there were three things that had to be prepared for the second coming of Jesus – Yourself, the Church and the world. 

He said preparing the world for Jesus’ second coming was through spreading the gospel to all the four corners of the world. 

He emphasized that the second coming of Jesus was tied to the gospel spreading to all corners of the world. 

Apostle Mensah appealed to all Christians to prepare adequately for Jesus’ second coming. 

At the Convention Apostle Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong, the immediate past Ghana National Council Chairman of GCCI, launched the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Church. 

The Great Commission Church International (GCCI) was founded on 1st April, 1991 on the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.  

The Church has since spread to other countries such as Togo, Benin, Gabon and the Ivory Coast.  

The founding fathers include Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, Apostle Professor Samuel Assuming-Brempong, Apostle Dr Joseph Kwabena Antwi and Apostle Dr Samuel Vincent Ansah.  

The rest are Apostle Richard Kwami Adanu, Apostle Dr Komla Ebenezer Hagan and the late Apostle Derrick Sarpong. 

Currently Apostle Mensah is the Chairman of the Executive Council of GCCI whereas Apostle Dr Ansah is the Ghana National Council Chairman of GCCI. 

Other past Chairmen of GCCI Ghana National Council are Apostle Prof Asuming-Brempong and Apostle Dr Antwi.
