Sebrepor Bethany Methodist Church inaugurates Boys Brigade

The Sebrepor Bethany Methodist Church in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality has inaugurated its Boys Brigade Band in a colourful concert held at the Church’s auditorium.

The ‘Inaugural Band Concert 1.0′, which was organised by the Boys Brigade Ghana, Tema-Volta Regional Council, Bethlehem and Afienya District, was on the theme: “Ad Gloriam Dei Resonamus” and aimed at giving glory to almighty God.

Mr Emmanuel Ofotsu, the Bandmaster, said the initiative was designed to recruit the youth to take up the challenge of the music ministry.

Mr Ofotsu explained that such activities helped unravel potential and talents among the youth that might otherwise remain undiscovered.

He added that many of the young people had the opportunity to hold an instrument for the first time, saying that, guided by guidance, discipline, teamwork, and creativity, the transformation was enormous and visible for all.

He hinted that exposing the youth to instruments and their usage prepared the brain and developed the musical prowess of an individual to be of immense benefit to the Church and the country at large.

According to him, learning rhythm, sight reading, and coordination sharpened mental focus and built confidence that extended beyond music into academics and leadership.

Mr Ofotsu noted that the inauguration was the maiden edition, and subsequent ones would follow to keep the brigade active.

He urged parents and Church leaders to encourage more boys to join, stressing that the band would serve as a platform for mentorship and spiritual growth.

The concert featured brass and woodwind performances from newly trained brigade members, including a notable flute rendition by one of the youngest recruits.

The audience, made up of congregants and Boys Brigade officers, cheered as the youth demonstrated skills acquired over weeks of intensive practice.

Church officials at the event commended the leadership of the Boys Brigade for the initiative, describing it as a strategic way to sustain youth interest in church activities while building skills relevant to national development.

Twenty-four boys were inducted into the Sebrepor Bethany Methodist Church’s Boys’ Brigade.
