Police have re-arrested three of six suspects who escaped from the Adabraka Police Station, officials said Monday. A search is ongoing for the remaining three fugitives.
In a statement, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Relations for the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, said an internal investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the escape.
“We have intensified efforts to ensure the remaining escapees are brought to justice,” Obeng said, urging the public to report any credible information to the nearest police station.
Police moved quickly to dismiss social media claims linking the escapees to the murder of Andrew Amankwah, father-in-law of NDC Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi.
Authorities clarified that no suspect connected to that case was ever held at the Adabraka station, ruling out any link between the jailbreak and the homicide investigation.
In a related development, the Western Central Police Command confirmed that three suspects in the Ohwim (Kumasi) murder case remain in custody.
They are Kojo Amponsah (alias Kamakazie), Emmanuel Appiah (alias Taller), and Tanko Bashiru (alias TK). All three have been remanded and are scheduled to reappear in court on May 7, 2026.
