One suspected armed robber has died, and three others are in custody after the Ghana Police Service carried out an intelligence-led operation in Bolgatanga.

The suspects were arrested on May 5, 2026, for alleged involvement in a series of robberies in the Upper East and North East regions, including the armed raid on a phone shop in Bolgatanga in March 2025.

Police say the suspects confessed to multiple attacks on mining sites and roads, stealing motorbikes, mobile phones, gold, and cash.

They also led investigators to a farm where an AK47 rifle and 87 rounds of live ammunition were found hidden in a fertiliser sack.

During the weapon retrieval, alleged gang leader Amadu Rahman collapsed and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

The three other suspects are set to face court.
